how to make the easiest hair clip in the world

what we are making:

the supplies:

glue

fabric or felt of any kind

scissors

hair clips

first you cut a circle out of the fabric. just freehand it- it won't matter if it's not perfect.

now start from the outside and cut all the way into the center, like this:

this is what it will look like:

now put a small amount of glue in the center of the felt:
i keep saying center.

i didn't take a picture of the next step because i think it's pretty easy to understand. just glue around the outside edges and put the circle back together however you want to.

this is what the back will look like:



and the front:

to cover the back and hide the clip i just cut out a slightly bigger circle (in contrasting felt)

cut a tiny hole and poke the clip through.

now put glue all over THIS SIDE so that it will hold:

i think the heavier felt looks much better.

1. i am still upset that Phil Harris from "deadliest catch" died.

2. i love eating popcorn but i really hate it when you get a kernel stuck in your gums. like way in the back where your tongue can't reach.

3. i love this kiddo.

i hope she will skip the ages 13-17 and head straight to art school.

or law school.

or exterminator school...i don't care as long as it's not....

4. i won 10 dollars at the fair when i was 5. my dad grew the largest turnip.

5. i hate the stick figure families that people put on their cars. what happens when you have to peel off spot? poor dog.

6. i've been crafty lately. i'm gettin' my mojo back! although i made these at christmas.

7. i like the smell of seagrams. i know people think that it's gross and maybe i'm just used to it...but i do. plus ryan works there so i'm sure it smells like money to him.

9. i don't like putting away groceries. i really don't like going to get them.

canvas | art tutorial

a REAL tutorial! woohoo!

i don't know about you, but i'm all about CHEAPER art. i love a good canvas, but i loved the idea of making my own even more. i also like modern decorations, and this way i can change them out whenever i want to.

let's go!

the supplies:

i already had most of this stuff. those are the cheapy paints from wally world and the canvases and canvas panels are from big lots. the largest canvas is 16x22.

go big or go home when it comes to pictures.

mod podge and CLEAR acrylic spray. btw doesn't mod podge have a fab logo? all retro and stuff. loves it.

you can either put the paint directly on the canvas or spread it out on a paper plate.

this picture was out of order (dumb blogger) but as soon as i started to open these i figured i should get a picture so you would know what to get. these are the thinner panels- i really like these because they are easy to prop on shelves, etc.

now roll it on thick! i normally put on 2-3 coats- it makes the color more BOLD.

no picture for the next step. take your mod podge and spread it around the edges of the BACK of the picture. you don't really want to coat the whole back because...well because you just don't need to.

then stick it to the canvas and let it dry. this only takes a few minutes.

now take it outside and spray 2-3 coats of acrylic spray over the whole thing. keep it about 5-6 inces above the canvas so it doesn't get too heavy in one spot (like spray paint would).

here is one using a canvas.

i taped it because i had intended to paint that like blue but decided to nix that idea.

make sure to paint the edges!

since this was going to have an 8x10 on it, i left a little unpainted.

just 'cause.

the one on the right was done well over 2 years ago and has never faded or warped.
